Thad Doughty is a native of Charleston, South Carolina and attended Middleton High School in the West Ashley area. He graduated from Saint Leo University outside of Tampa, Florida with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology, Cum Laude. He then received his law degree from Mercer University in Macon, Georgia. Thad served in both the United States Air Force and the United States Army Reserves. He has practiced law for approximately twenty-five (25) years. He is a former public defender, state prosecutor and JAG officer. He also served as a municipal judge for the City of North Charleston for fourteen (14) years. He has been a Certified Federal Criminal Defense Attorney for eighteen (18) years.
