A bilingual attorney, Omar received his Bachelor of Arts in Government / Public Policy Analysis in 1994 from Pomona College in California followed by a Master's Degree in Public Administration from Seattle University in 1998.

Omar has over 20 years of experience and is a founding (and current) board member of Northwest Justice Project, an all-volunteer international relief agency.
