Don Pope opened his practice in Norman in 1992. Don has successfully assisted thousands of clients with civil litigation, family law, estate planning, probate, and bankruptcy matters. Prior to private practice he served as the General Counsel for the Oklahoma Department of Corrections and continues to represent many clients regarding Parole, Post-Conviction, Habeas Corpus and Misconduct appeals.

During his career, Don has actively worked for the improvement of the legal profession. While serving as Assistant District Attorney in the child support enforcement division in Okmulgee and McAlester he was one of the founders of the Oklahoma Child Support Enforcement Association. While at the Oklahoma Department of Corrections he started the Oklahoma State General Counsel's Association, a group of attorneys from the various state agencies. This group met to share ideas on agency operations and continues to meet today. Don was President of the Cleveland County Bar Association from 2012-2013 and also served as the 2012-2013 Chair of the Law Office Management and Technology Section of the Oklahoma Bar Association. He was also Law Day Chair for the Cleveland County Bar Association in 2009, 2010, 2014, 2015. The CCBA received the prestigious Hicks-Epton Award for best Oklahoma law day program in 2009 from the Oklahoma Bar Association. He is currently the Vice Chair of the Board for the Oklahoma Indigent Defense System.

Don graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor’s degree in History and received his law degree from Oklahoma City University in 1978. He is admitted to practice in all state and federal courts in Oklahoma, the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.
